With all the dreadfully hard ground which can do so much harm to the horses legs, being sidelined with a broken collar bone may be a blessing in disguise! I’m getting pretty good at strimming, gardening and painting one handed! Also it’s giving me time to ‘tame’ the 5 yearlings. Each morning when I give them their Baileys stud balancer I spend time scratching them, putting headcollars on, and quietly teaching them to pick up their feet.
I was very disappointed to miss riding at the wonderful Barbury Horse Trials. Also with Bobby and Joey both qualified for the British Intermediate Champs at Gatcombe it’s very sad to not be able to compete at that wonderful event. Fingers crossed by mid August, when I hope I will be signed back on, the rain will have arrived!
I’m gradually getting used to Emily not being around….we are regularly in touch. I took Bobby and Joey up to Emily and Sams, so they can be kept in work over the next few weeks until I am back on track. I went to Aston Le Walls with Em and watched her have a fab advanced win with Dre, his first event back after his Bramham win in June…British Open Champs at Gatcombe is their next event. I also went with Emily to Osborne Horse Trials on the Isle of White, what a fabulous time we had at this new event, made even better by Emily finishing 2nd on Quinlan Z, who looked very confident and happy.
Mitsubishi Motors swapped my ambassador’s Shogun for a sparkly new one..what a treat. And Logic have changed my topper for a new one..so no excuse for not having neat tidy paddocks!
After Gatcombe I have been asked to judge at the Dublin Horse Show which I’m looking forward to, and also am doing a masterclass in the main ring.
